About Me

My training and approach

Compassionate Integrative Therapy for Individuals & Couples

Hi, I’m Angelica Nelson, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of this practice. I offer therapy for individuals and couples who are seeking real, meaningful change — whether you’re working through trauma, navigating relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck and ready to reconnect with yourself.

My approach is grounded, relational, and deeply integrative. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities — including EMDR, DBT, shame-informed therapy, parts work, and mindfulness-based practices — and tailor each session to meet you where you are.

Professional Training & Background

I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, with a dual focus on Clinical Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s College of California, and a Certification in Addiction Studies from UC Berkeley Extension.

My clinical training includes extensive preparation in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, with completion of Levels 1, 2, and 3. I am trained in EMDR through EMDRIA, with a focus on trauma recovery and nervous system regulation. My background also includes DBT and somatic training developed through hands-on clinical practice while working in residential treatment settings with clients experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. I am currently engaged in advanced training in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, with an emphasis on a trauma-informed, ethically grounded approach to working with non-ordinary states of consciousness.

I’ve worked in a variety of settings — including community mental health, residential programs, and group practice — and bring that depth of experience into every session. My background has shaped my commitment to meeting clients with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and clinical excellence.

How I Work

In therapy, I show up as a real human — someone who listens deeply, asks meaningful questions, and helps you access the parts of yourself that may have been silenced, hurt, or hidden. I believe healing happens in relationship — with a trusted other, and ultimately, with yourself.

Whether you’re working through anxiety, trauma, shame, life transitions or relationship struggles, I’m here to help you move from survival mode into more empowered, connected living.
