Reconnect. Communicate. Heal Together.

Couples Intensive Program

When you can’t keep having the same conversation.

You’ve tried to talk it through.
You’ve tried to stay calm. To be patient. To explain it better.

And yet—you keep ending up in the same place:

It’s not that you don’t care.
It’s that the pattern between you has taken over.

My intensive program helps you both step out of that pattern—for good.

What is a Couples Intensive Program?

No two couples are the same—and your intensive shouldn’t be either. I create a custom healing experience for you and your partner, designed around your specific:

If you’re feeling stuck in cycles of repeated arguments, disconnection or withdrawal, my intensive program can help break down barriers by stepping through conflict cycles in a safe space.

If you’re dealing with betrayal and trust issues, I will help you and your partner rebuild emotional safety and trust – in yourselves, and in each other.

If you know you love each other, but don’t feel like you’re on the same team, we will practice new ways of communicating in a supported environment.

Why Intensives Work for Couples

Your relationship doesn’t exist in 50-minute increments. When we have the time, we can stay with the conversation until it actually shifts, interrupt the cycle as it’s happening, and create NEW and POWERFUL experiences of connection.

This is where couples begin to feel hope again.

My Approach

I integrate:
• Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 3 trained)
• Trauma-informed and EMDR-informed work
• Nervous system and somatic support

I seek to improve communication by ACTUALLY ADDRESSING what’s driving the conflict underneath.

Case Study

When David and Rachel (names changed for privacy) reached out, they felt stuck in a cycle of conflict and disconnection. Between demanding careers, parenting responsibilities, and years of unresolved hurts, they found themselves having the same arguments repeatedly without making progress. They cared deeply about their relationship but felt frustrated that weekly therapy wasn’t providing enough momentum.

They decided to participate in a couples intensive to dedicate focused time to their relationship without the interruptions of everyday life.

Our Work Together

Over the course of the intensive, we spent several hours exploring the patterns that kept them feeling disconnected. Rather than focusing only on the content of their arguments, we examined the underlying emotions, needs, and experiences driving their interactions.

Together we:

Identified recurring conflict cycles and triggers

Explored how past experiences influenced current relationship dynamics

Improved communication and conflict management skills

Rebuilt emotional understanding and empathy

Strengthened friendship, appreciation, and connection

Created a practical plan for maintaining progress after the intensive

The extended format allowed us to move beyond surface-level discussions and spend meaningful time practicing new ways of relating to one another in real time.

The Outcome

By the end of the intensive, David and Rachel reported feeling more hopeful and connected than they had in years. They gained a deeper understanding of each other’s experiences and felt better equipped to navigate disagreements without becoming stuck in blame, defensiveness, or withdrawal.

Rather than viewing each other as the problem, they began approaching challenges as a team. They left with concrete tools, renewed confidence in their relationship, and a clear roadmap for continued growth.

Key Takeaway

Sometimes couples don’t need more time—they need focused time. A couples intensive provides the space to slow down, gain clarity, and make meaningful progress in a matter of days rather than months.

This case study is a composite example with identifying details changed to protect confidentiality. Individual experiences and outcomes will vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a couple's intensive?

A couples intensive is an extended therapy experience designed to help couples make meaningful progress in a condensed timeframe. Instead of meeting for one hour each week, we spend several hours or multiple days focused on your relationships, allowing for deeper work and faster momentum.

How is a couple's intensive different from weekly couples therapy?

Weekly therapy often requires stopping just as important conversations are gaining traction. An intensive provides uninterrupted time to fully explore challenges, learn new skills, and practice healthier ways of connecting before returning to daily life.

Who are couple's intensives best suited for?

Couples intensives can be a great fit for couples who:

-Feel stuck in recurring conflict

-Are facing a major life transition

-Want to rebuild trust after a rupture

-Feel disconnected and want to reconnect

-Have busy schedules that make weekly therapy difficult

-Want to make significant progress in a shorter period of time

What issues can be addressed in a couple's intensive?

Intensives can focus on communication challenges, conflict management, emotional disconnection, trust and betrayal, parenting stress, intimacy concerns, life transitions, premarital preparation, and strengthening friendship and connection.

Do we need to be in a crisis to do an intensive?

No. Many couples choose an intensive proactively to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, or reconnect before problems become more severe.

What happens during a couple's intensive?

Each intensive is customized to your relationship and goals. We may explore relationship patterns, attachment needs, conflict cycles, communication skills, emotional connection, trust, friendship and shared meaning. You’ll leave with practical tools and a clearer understanding of your relationship dynamics.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

My work is primarily informed by the Gottman Method, along with attachment-based, trauma-informed, and experiential approaches. Every intensive is tailored to the unique needs of the couple.

Will we spend the entire time talking about our problems?

No. While we address challenges directly, we also focus on strengths, friendship, appreciation, connection and the patterns that help couples thrive.

What if one partner is hesitant about therapy or the intensive model?

This is common. Couples therapy is not about determining who is right or wrong. the goal is to understand relationship patterns and create a healthier, more connected partnership.

Can a couple's intensive help us decide whether to stay together?

Sometimes. Intensives can help couples gain clarity about the future of their relationship, improve communication around difficult decisions, and better understand their options.

Can we do an intensive if we've already tried couple's therapy?

Absolutely. Many couples seek an intensive after feeling stuck in traditional therapy or wanting a more focused and immersive experience.

How long are couple's intensives?

Intensives are customized based on your needs and goals. Options may range from a half-day intensive to multiple full days of therapy.

Can a couple's intensive replace months of therapy?

While every couple is different, many couples find they accomplish weeks or months of work in a much shorter timeframe due to the focused nature of the intensive.

Will we receive tools and exercises to use afterward?

Yes. Couples leave with practical strategies, insights, and recommendations to help maintain progress after that intensive ends.

What if we live outside of Central Oregon?

Many couples travel for intensive. A consultation can help determine whether an intensive is a good fit for your situation.

How do we know if a couple's intensive is right for us?

We begin with a consultation to discuss your goals, challenges, and hopes for the relationship. Together, we’ll determine whether an intensive or ongoing weekly therapy is the best fit.
